Breathe 03:15
breathe. [e.hamalainen] our restless hearts, / how will they find their peace again? / come, let'em flee / and sleep under this big old tree / and simply be; / and simply hear God's breathing / breathe, / breathe, breathe / deep, my soul / breathe, / breathe, / breathe deep, again / our restless lives, / how will they find their roots again? / come, let'em flee / and hide in the shades of this green tree / and simply be; / and simply hear God's whisper.
2.
“It is the fire of suffering that brings forth the gold of Godliness.” [M.Guyon]
the day # 11. [e.hamalainen] the skies tear open / the fire falls, consumes / their swords dividing / our flesh from souls / the walls collapse / the demons gloat and curse / my faith is fading / my peace is in the grave. / this is the day / the evil day / it pierced my all / the day 11 / among the ashes the price of faith I pay / my body festers / my spirit cries, / yet still I praise / the arms of Sheol / can´t keep me long / upon the ashes / my Saviour will stand and restore.

Deus Meus 04:51
4.
between these daily thorns. [e.hamalainen] too long, I walked the road of death / been stuck between these daily thorns / I thought I´m rich, I thought I´m strong / until I heard your gentle knock. / who will rescue me from this body of death? / who will rescue me from this body of death? / too long I kept the thoughts of death / been torn between the now and then / I thought I´m good, I thought I´m well / until I felt your gentle touch. / so come and take this darkness from / my weary face, my laden soul / so come, anoint my wicked eyes /my faithless heart, with living balm / so come and clothe my filthy bones / with righteous clothes, / with wedding dress.
5.
this Finnish heart. [e.hamalainen] nothing left to say / nothing left to sing / nothing left to keep / nothing left to prove / I´m here to say that / this Finnish heart / this struggling heart / it longs for you, / for you, my Rock and my Salvation / the lakes are here to speak / the the trees are here to sing / the birds are here to whisper / the stars are here to glow / they´re here to say that / this Finnish heart, / this laden heart / it longs for you, / for you, my Rock and my Salvation this Finnish heart / this weary heart / it longs for you, / for you, my Rock and my Salvation.
6.
seven days, seven nights. [e.hamalainen] you came quite late, / but you came / you´ve seen much less / but you´ve seen / you´ve tasted some, / but you´ve tasted / you came, / you´ve seen, / you´ve tasted and got drunk /7 days and 7 nights / sat among my dust and ashes / 7 days and 7 nights / ye joined to my, my darkest fears / 7days and 7 nights / ate my dusty, bitter bread / 7 days and 7 nights / we drowned this pain / in blackest tears / coming later, / will you come? / wanna see me, / will you want? / wanna touch me, / will you touch? / could you be still, / stop to breathe?
7.
when all is said and done. [e.hamalainen] when all is said and done / we´ll have no need of mercy / when all is seen and won / we´ll have no need of grace / we´ll see your face / the face of glory / we´ll touch your hands / the hands of mercy / we´ll meet your face / the face of grace / we´ll kiss your hands / these precious, nail-pierced palms.
8.
beauty for ashes. [e.hamalainen] thou set my feet upon / the darkest path / and on my eyelids is / the shadow of death /thou put my all on fire / with thorns in my side / and on my forehead is / the mark of the Fall /anoint this bitter mourning, / give beauty for ashes / anoint my head with oil / give breath to my ashes / thou put my feet upon / the narrow path / and on this rugged cross I faced all grace.

about

..... endless thoughts about the light; how to love and how to die ... "

TAMMSAARE calls from the Beautiful North, where the nights have no hold over you in summer, where the darkness of the woods keeps alive ancient myths, where the streams have no source, where the ears of the men are still tuned to the rhythm of timelessness.

TAMMSAARE is a project, which was formed in late autumn 2005 by singer-songwriter Arve. With influences from many musicians like Bob Dylan, Jukka Leppilampi, Arvo Part, lain Archer, Damien Rice, Red House Painters, This Beautiful Mess, Bonny 'Prince' Billy , Lampshade, At The Close Of Every Day, Thomas Dybdahl, Justin Sullivan, U2, Sparklehorse, Sigur Ros, 16 Horsepower - to mention just a few - his music is described as moody "bedroom-indie-folk" with a touch of "emo".

Growing up in the north, Arve first encountered his muse as a teenager:
"I always loved music but never noticed it. My mom and dad were gifted musicians, but I never felt any connection with that. Unlike them I used to spend a lot of time outdoors. I had a bicycle and I used to ride to the places few people had ever been to . I used to spend tons of time like that on my own. The time when music entered my life was when my younger cousin started playing guitar. Shortly after that, my parents bought me a birthday present: a very cheap Western guitar, which I still have. I started playing alone or with friends & riding around kind of stopped. Sometimes, I used to find a lot of peace just writing something and playing it over and over to myself in my bedroom".

A couple of years passed. Arve travelled to many places, finished studying, met some great musician s and made friends. All this had a great impact on him. He still remembers one cold spring day back in 2001 sitting on a cosy rocking-chair, with a cup of tea & his guitar, when something beautiful began. Vulnerability blended perfectly with an overflow of emotions & inspiration. He knelt and drank deeply from that stream. He recorded these songs with his sister Margarita. Her support was constant, and her uniquely delicate and wonderfully innocent voice graced his music. With their 3 CDs [2001-2003] of early home-recording-demo's, which resulted in some good reviews around the globe, they managed to get a couple of gigs. They started to perform live: intimate shows with 2 voices, gentle acoustic guitars & atmospheric back ground sounds.

Back in late 2001, Arve had an encounter with Peter Penner [Asaph Music Germany], who worked with musicians like Jars of Clay, Julie Miller, Jenny & Alex Legg, Charizma, Glenn Kaiser, Nina Astroem, MIC, Justo Almario & Abraham Laboriel, Carrie & David Grant, Modest Attraction & Narnia among many others. Later on, Peter established his own independent label known as EAGLE'N'ROSE MUSIC & has been leading KIK UP Agency in Germany for the last couple of years . At the start of 2006, he and Arve met in a nice, cozy recording studio in the attic of his house and recorded TAMMSAARE's debut album 'Before I go to the place of gloom & deep shadow' [named after a beautiful verse from an ancient book, the Bible].
A lot of material was been gathered since Arve's move to the UK in 2003. While recording sessions he noticed that there was enough material for another EP album. 'May the summer light up your heart', a collection of breezy, dreamy summer songs, was born and also recorded a couple of days later by Peter Penner.

In the past years Arve has grown as a singer- songwriter. The songs on 'Before I go to the place of gloom & deep shadow' & 'May the summer light up your heart' are to-the-point, more diverse, modestly arranged & more mature. Arve's deep, soft voice & bitter-sweet yet thoughtful lyrics lift the songs to a higher plane. Accompanied by his skillful mates like Joe Evans [UK], Marco Klaue [NL], Peter Penner [D] & some others, he manages to create his own unique genre.

Arve's ambition is far broader than entertainment and deeper than mere empty emotions that have no connection to real life. Some musicians want to move your feet; some just want to move you. TAMMSAARE wants to plant a rare seed of a heavenly kind. His music articulates a yearning for another world yet to be born, and contains songs of sorrow familiar with grief. And yet his lyrics carry a burning hope that is not of this world, nor is it only for the other world.

Arve tries to describe the paradoxical state of our society: "A workmate of mine, in his mid twenties, recently made a shocking statement about modern music. He said, I haven't heard a life-changing song for years and years. Modern music has become hollow, empty and meaningless to me. I'd really like to hear songs which can change, inspire or challenge me again."

Arve's inmost thoughts on this opinion were the following: ''As I thought about my workmate's revelation it became clearer to me than ever before: People hunger for beauty, a beauty that flows from within like a refreshing, reviving river. People hunger for authenticity and spiritual experiences. They're desperate to find meaning in life, or better still, a life of ecstasy. I wish those among us, who know the source of this beauty and hope, would share the source of that inspiration publicly and bravely. There's nothing wrong about having an alternative attitude on life, for salt always keeps things from going off. "

, Immerse yourself into the middle of this river and let your heart be filled with streams of inspiration from the Unknown. '
